A few juniper bushes would be grand.

I was referred to your LJ not via your Facebook (though I do pay attention to it!), but by a friend in TOronto who said your LJ was funny. And Lo! I said "Yeah, I sorta know that guy!"

Hahahahahahha awesome. XD

But in all seriousness, I mean if you were really wondering, it's because just telling someone, "Hi, I've been reading your LJ and you look interesting, can I friend you?" feels just a bit like coming up to someone and saying, "Hi, you don't know me but I've been watching you from afar and while I was peering through your window I noticed that you watch The X-Files, too!" and of course some people, although they leave their journal entries public, don't really expect strangers to just come up and say hi in them (because they have the journal for friends/family/whatever and leave stuff public because either some of the people they expect to read it don't have LJ accounts, or they don't think anyone else would be interested and it's not private enough to really matter) and would be weirded out by it. (Just like how, sure, people do leave their curtains open sometimes when they're just hanging out in their house or whatever, but they don't expect people to actually be watching for the most part.) And you never know when someone might have had some kind of "crazy internet stalker" problem in the past. So for some people it just seems better to try to alleviate any potential creepiness right away, especially since it's just text and you don't have the same cues and things we use for in-person interactions to judge whether someone's creepy.

Yeah... but what internet stalker isn't going to open up with the same, "I'm not a stalker" attitude? Most have at least the basic understanding of social norms to lead out that much line. I say most... not all... some stalkers are pretty damn weird.

I've had a dude thrust his arm back through elevator doors to pry them open and follow me up the elevator trying to talk me into coming to their flat for drinks. *wibble* I look like some ravagable uke or something... which sucks because... I don't particularly like men... and I'm sure as hell not a bottom.

Ew at people who don't understand "no"/can't take a hint. D:

Although in my case I dispensed entirely with the "OMG hope this isn't stalkerish" thing. You're a self-admitted attention whore, I know that Uncle Ghastly LOVED the avalanche of friends requests!

Plant some bushes? Feh!

Let me tell you a little story. One time, many moons ago I was out late at night picking up some mexican food right before the place closed. I was on foot which was maybe not the best idea, but it was only a few blocks from my place and I was in the habit of walking around everywhere locally. I figured it would not be that big of a deal to make the walk after dark.

I pick up my order and I start to head home. There are two people walking ahead of me, a young woman and a young man walking behind her. For some reason this guys is giving off kind of a creepy vibe somehow, I can't put my finger one it. He's this skinny white guy with chicken legs, and for some reason even though it's winter he's wearing shorts. She turns off to the right, and then he turns off after her, looks like they're going together. It's not really a real turn like a road, it's more a short cut people take into a col-de-sac that's next to the sidewalk. Between the sidewalk and the houses there is this kind of screen of juniper bushes and maple trees, and there is an opening at one point in this screen that people cut through.

I keep walking past as I'm going straight, when suddenly I hear this messed up noise in the bushes. I say messed up because I can't identify it right away, but I knew there was something wrong with it. As I'm going past I look down, and there is the dude, crouched in the bushes, shorts pulled down, on all fours, or should I say all threes? masturbating furiously with one hand and rubbing his asshole against one of the tree trunks. I think I passed about two feet from him, as quickly and quietly as possible. Now that I knew he wasn't actually with the woman, I could only assume this was some kind of stalking routine he had.

So I say, you can't really consider yourself a REAL stalker, until you not only plant those bushes but commit yourself to masturbating furiously inside them while rubbing your asshole against that prickly juniper goodness. That's how the pros do it.

You know the one thing going through my head besides the fear that this pantsless maniac was going to jump out of the bushes and stab me was the thought that he was going to get splinters doing that, and that they were going to get infected and he was going to have to go to the doctor. And I really wondered how that visit was going to go.

But what makes you so cool, Unca Ghastly, is that you put your windows up on the internet. I can peek in on you from the comfort of my own home.

With you being as popular as you are, I figure you probably don't have time to get to know everybody well enough to talk with them on the phone about bitter gotham pizza or other crazy crud. If you did, I'd have told you to call me a long time ago and pestered you with hangout plans. Also, I've been trying to find your facebook page and was wondering if you'd mind sharing the link?
